Bring the Mission Youth spirit to your parish or community
The following includes all you need to know about planning and executing your local mission!
Mission Youth & Family is an apostolate of the New Evangelization, proclaiming God’s message of love to today’s world.
Where do you see the need for that in your local parish & community?
- Homeless on the street?
- Loneliness of shut-ins?
- Young people not attending Mass?
Your local mission is an answer to a concrete need.
Before stepping out as a Catholic missionary, first let your local parish priest know & ask his blessing.
- Offer your services, time and talents
- If the local pastor so desires, missionaries operate under the name of the parish and/or involve/invite local parishioners in the mission and/or serve a concrete need the parish has in the area of evangelization.
- Form the participants to be missionary disciples/apostles within their home parishes after the mission.
Officially affiliate your mission with Mission Youth – this provides insurance and liability coverage for you and your participants.
A mission is never done alone! And it is not just to divide the work. A mission springs from a Catholic community that desires to go out & witness to God’s Love. Part of the mission team also includes those local organizations that you partner with that make your mission possible. All those involved with our mission need to be registered volunteers. Please take a few minutes to register all your volunteers here, especially if your mission involves minors.

Please register your Mission Day with Mission Youth! This is very important for us… it allows us to track the mission activity, learn better how we can support you, keep you in our prayers & for liability purposes!
A schedule for your mission day helps you make sure you can meet your objectives in the day. Our Mission days are based on the charism of Regnum Christi & always include a few key elements. Download a sample Mission Day schedule below!
Our mission days have both spiritual & material elements: we take time to pray, to eat, to serve, to have fun.
Make sure your mission has what it needs to be a success! Most day missions charge $15 per person to cover the cost of food, gas, liability insurance, etc.
It’s shopping time! Depending on what your mission is, your list will look different: PB & J for the homeless? water bottles?, cross, post its & pens?
No matter what the mission, don’t forget the essential Mission Gear found at our online store.
Get the word out! Your efforts can move other hearts to get involved! Use social media, parish bulletins, & word of mouth!
Sometimes, those we invite can’t join us in person on the mission day – don’t forget to invite them to pray for the mission, to help you promote it or given, give a donation to make it possible!
Your missionaries are going to need a way to see what your mission is about, sign up and sign all the necessary paperwork. You can use Mission Youth’s page or set up your own using your preferred event management platform.

International Missions
San Ramon, Mexico Mission Information
The mission in San Ramon is to form part of the town’s Catholic community for a week. It is a very peaceful, simple town close to Mexico City.
Missionaries will visit homes, especially those of the sick, to pray with them & encourage them. In the afternoons, townspeople of all ages gather in the main plaza to play, pray and do activities with the missionaries.
Mexico is a very Catholic country yet it still needs missionaries to witness to their faith!
San Ramon is a quiet town just 20 minutes from Mexico City. Life there is simple & peaceful.
Missionaries will be able to visit Mexico City for a day: the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, & other important religious & cultural sites.
DATES: This mission site is almost always available so contact the National Team to set dates.
For missionaries 16 and up
Language: Spanish
San Ramon receives missionaries every Holy Week from our missionaries in Mexico! Local missionaries from this apostolate in Mexico will be happy to receive you and guide you through their local mission experience.
No, the mission leadership team speaks Spanish and will be able to serve as translators. As well, we will teach you prayers and simple phrases to communicate with the people. On this mission, you will be encouraged to speak the language of the heart.
During the mission in the town, missionaries will stay in the parish center, which is next to the Catholic Church & surrounded by a fence.
One night in Mexico City will be in a hotel near the airport.
- San Ramon is a very safe and peaceful community.
- Bottled water will be provided since tap water is not safe to drink.
- Food can be spicy or greasy and so leaders will coach missionaries on what might upset their stomachs.
Mission Youth does not provide travel insurance for international missions. If you are interested in travel insurance, you may purchase insurance from a company of your choice.
Refund amounts
In the event a paid-applicant cancels their participation in a mission youth mission, the following refund policy applies:
- $50 deposit: always non-fundable and does not apply to the following refund policy
- 180 days or more prior to mission start date: full refund of payments so far
- 90-179 days prior to mission start date: 75% refund of payments so far
- 45-89 days prior to mission start date: 50% refund of payments so far
- 15-45 days prior to mission start date: 25% refund
- 14 days or less prior to mission start date: 0 refund
All qualified refunds will be sent in the form of a check only, to the billing name and address only on the invoice in which the mission was paid.
Mission Cancellation
If Mission Youth cancels a mission due to low numbers, safety or any other reason, a full refund or a mission voucher will be provided.
Quintano Roo, Mexico Mission Information
Missionaries serve villages in great need. Your mission work will serve both the spiritual and physical needs of the people you encounter. Humanitarian projects include constructing homes or churches, laying floors, and fixing roofs. Spiritual evangelization work includes opportunities to interact with the townspeople by hosting kid’s camps, leading sports activities, and organizing liturgical celebrations.
Quintana Roo has a very humid and mild tropical climate, ranging from 55-85 degrees F all year around. The people live in multiple villages and speak native dialects. Typically we will be staying in homes with thatch roofs in hammocks.

No, mission leaders and others will serve as translators. We encourage missionaries to speak the language of the heart on the mission through their smile, joy and open attitude.
Yes, this area of Mexico is very safe. You will fly in and out of the Cancun International Airport and move around in private transportation. The whole mission will be within the Mision Maya facilities.
COVID has had a low impact in this area of Mexico, affecting .07% of the population.
Food is very simple & bottled water is available. It is recommended to bring Pepto-Bismol for an upset stomach.

Mission Gear
Mission Youth missionaries know that when we are on a mission, we represent so much more than just ourselves. We are representing the Catholic Church, Mission Youth, and also Jesus. We seek to be His hands and His feet, His eyes and His voice for the people we serve. We want our dress, our expressions, and our behavior to be a reflection of Him and His Gospel. We want to be recognizable as missionaries and dressed for whatever the mission could ask of us. Don’t forget your mission gear before heading out!
- Mission Youth T-shirt: This is the most recognizable part of the missionary and reminds all those around us that we are bringing God with us and that we are not afraid!
- Mission Crucifix: Worn across our neck, it is a sign of our acceptance and commissioning as a missionary. We usually use the JPII Crucifix, since he is the inspiration behind Mission Youth.
- Jeans or pants: modest and sturdy protection from rain, sun, insects, etc.
- Tennis Shoes: allows us to walk wherever the mission takes us
- Bandana: identifies which mission track you are on
- Mission Hoodie: a great way for missionaries to stay warm while keeping the logo visible
- Mission Bag: to keep all the mission essentials
