regnum christi?
Regnum Christi is a spiritual family and an apostolic body in the Catholic Church, with the mission of making the Kingdom of Christ present today, in our hearts, in the hearts of all people, and in the world around us.
A spiritual family with four vocations and one mission: to make Christ’s kingdom present in today’s world.
Regnum Christi is made up of the Legionaries of Christ, the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi, and lay members from all walks of life.
We come from many different countries and cultures; we are of many different ages and have many different backgrounds, but we are united by the experience of knowing Christ and his love for us.
We are a community of apostles, living our lives in collaboration with Christ so that others can meet him and personally experience his invincible, transforming love.
We live all of this in the midst of the today’s real world, with all of its problems and uncertainties… but with the experience of God’s love, his forgiveness, and the knowledge that nothing we can do will ever separate us from him.
Our motto is “Christ our King, Thy Kingdom Come!” ( SRCF 13)
It expresses the ardent desire to make the Kingdom present — to make Christ himself, who is the Kingdom incarnate, present in our world today — and to live like the first Christian communities.

We live an apostolic dynamism and a missionary attitude that is born from an encounter with Christ and his love which transforms us and moves us to share the Gospel message with others.

Christ accompanies us, and we accompany each other as a community of apostles following him in the midst of the concrete realities of our lives, walking together while living our unique vocational paths, supporting each other as friends, brothers, and sisters.

The History of Regnum Christi
Regnum Christi was born as an ecclesial movement of apostolate with the mission of making Christ’s Kingdom present in the world. Our history began in 1941 with the founding of the Legionaries of Christ, marking the beginning of a charism that has grown in depth and breadth.
Historically, our founder was Father Marcial Maciel, a Mexican priest born in Cotija de la Paz, Michoacán, in 1920. Although he is the historical founder, we do not consider him a role model due to the gravity of his actions, which included abuse and conduct contrary to the Gospel, which have been recognized and condemned by the Church (more regarding Father Marcial Maciel).
In 1968, the first lay groups in Regnum Christi emerged, made up of lay people in different states of life who share a common spirituality and apostolic mission. Over time, the spiritual family of Regnum Christi has grown, integrating married and single lay people, consecrated men and women, priests and religious brothers studying for the priesthood, all united in a single apostolic body.
Over the decades, it has undergone a process of maturation and renewal, with key moments such as the autonomy granted to Consecrated Women and Lay Men in 2012, the formation of the Regnum Christi Federation in 2019, and, more recently, the final approval of its Statutes in 2024.
