Introduction

from the Territorial Directive College of Regnum Christi

As the 2023-2024 academic year closes, we are humbled and joyfully grateful to reflect on “what the Lord has done” (cf. Psalm 46:9) in and through the Regnum Christi communities of apostles across the North American territory. This has been a year of growth—with over 200 new lay members, 5 new Legionary priests, an American Consecrated Woman who has made her final vows, and a new community of Lay Consecrated Men in our territory. Additionally, and more importantly, we are reaching more people across the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Korea, and Oceania with the transforming light of the Gospel as we endeavor to bring Christ to our culture in innovative ways that respond to the needs of today’s world.

We invite you to join us in giving thanks to God for his many gifts and his constant presence, and to prayerfully consider how you may be called to join us in this mission through your prayers, through working with us in our evangelizing mission, or by helping us to make the mission possible through your financial support.

May God bless you,

The Territorial Directive College of Regnum Christi
Members: Fr. Shawn Aaron, LC, Fr. John Bartunek, LC, Charlie Bradley, Maria Gaviria, Kathleen Murphy, Helen Yalbir

Who We Are

A Growing Spiritual Family

The mission of Regnum Christi is to make Christ present in our world by collaborating with him, allowing him to work in and through them to reach the hearts of others. Regnum Christi evangelizes through missions, youth work, faith-based small groups, schools, and formative programs — and through a myriad of creative and entrepreneurial evangelizing initiatives designed to meet the current needs of people in today’s world with the answers that Christ has for them.

As a spiritual family made up of four vocations, the Legionaries of Christ, The Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi, and lay members, Regnum Christi brings a rich dynamic to evangelization, a complementarity of gifts, and a mutual reverence for all of the vocations that God calls his people to.

Legionaries
of Christ

The Legionaries of Christ have 17 communities in the North American Territory, with 150 priests and brothers working alongside Regnum Christi members of other vocations in a dynamic and complementary way. Through RC youth work, work with young adults, chaplaincies in RC localities and schools, Legionaries reach into the fabric of society, the family, and bring the transformative presence of Christ. In 2023, nine young men entered the novitiate in Cheshire Connecticut, to embark on their discernment of the priesthood as a Legionary of Christ, and 29 new priests were ordained for the Legionaries of Christ, including five from the North American Territory.

Consecrated Women
of Regnum Christi

Over 80 Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi in 11 North American localities bring the gift of their total consecration to Christ to youth work, ministry with young adults and women, education, diocesan initiatives, and local RC apostolates like missions. By living as lay women in the world with vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, they share a taste of what the Kingdom of Heaven will be like with everyone they encounter. In 2023, Jill Dominy made her final vows as a Consecrated Woman.

Encounter Teams & local RC Communities

Across the North American territory, men and women, couples and families, are nourished in communities built by Regnum Christi. Whether they are small groups that meet regularly to nourish and study their faith and life of prayer, or members of a parish entrusted to the Legionaries of Christ or a Regnum Christi school, these communities are strengthening the foundations of hundreds of families and reaching out into their local areas to invite more families to know the joy and peace of being part of a Catholic community of apostles.

Our Mission

creating communities of apostles

Over the past year, Regnum Christi members in the North American Territory served about

0

people of all walks of life, from families to college students, from children and teenagers to men and women of all ages, through many creative and engaging ways of bringing Christ to our culture.

What We Do

To fulfill our mission, we seek to make present the mystery of Christ who goes out to people, reveals the love of his heart to them, gathers them together and forms them as apostles and Christian leaders, sends them out and accompanies them as they collaborate in the evangelization of people and of society. (Statutes of the Regnum Christi Federation #8)

How We Do It

Across North America, Regnum Christi looks at the world we live in, and prayerfully finds ways to reach people in today’s culture, introducing them to Christ in innovative and entrepreneurial ways, supporting them as they grow in that relationship, deepen in their faith, and discover their God-given mission in life.

Our core focus is on strengthening families at all stages of life, from young adult vocational discernment and communities to marriage preparation programs and accompaniment, couples retreats and events, family missions, youth formation, and building communities of apostles where families can thrive.

In our 11 Regnum Christi schools we had more than 3,400 students, and Divine Mercy University, our Catholic graduate school of Psychology and Counseling, celebrated 182 graduates.

Spreading the Gospel

In 2023 over 3,500 Holy Week Missionaries went out in 23 cities across the United States, Canada, and the Philippines to spread the Gospel and build the Kingdom of Christ.

Building Holy & Healthy Marriages

As the venerable Fulton Sheen said, Catholic marriages are made up of three people, the husband, the wife, and God. For over 40 years, we have prepared couples for the sacrament of marriage.

Today, our Three to Get Married Marriage Preparation Program, offered in mutiple cities across the United States, draws upon the best in contemporary psychology, practical wisdom from experienced married couples, and the beauty of the Catholic Church’s teachings on marriage and family life to provide couples with the best foundation on which to build a successful marriage. Our program aims to provide each couple with a reflective and in-depth preparation for a joyful, faith-filled marriage—based on love that not only endures but actually grows stronger year after year.

Marriage Retreats: Building a holy and healthy marriage is the foundation for a strong family life. Regnum Christi serves and supports married couples through retreats, socials, communities of like-minded Catholic couples and families, and individual spiritual direction.

Evangelizing & Strengthening Catholic Men

Building apostles for today.

Fr. Shawn Aaron, LC,  delivered the keynote address at the RC Men’s Convention, sharing his thoughts on what it means to ignite the heart of the apostle and how the Territory is working to support the localities.

“We desire to ignite the heart of the apostle, who sees the needs of the world and the Church, discerns through the lens of our charism, and steps out boldly in mission. What do you see around you, and is there something that our Lord has entrusted to you that you can help with somehow?

‘Open your eyes, look around you. Don’t you see that the fields are ripe with harvest?’
(cf. John 4:35).

Over 4000 Regnum Christi members were among the estimated 400,000 registered pilgrims who gathered for the 37th World Youth Day that took place August 1 – 6 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Several hundred Regnum Christi pilgrims from the United States attended, some groups beginning their pilgrimages with stops in Spain, Fatima, and local Portuguese dioceses for youth celebrations in preparation for the main events in Lisbon.
