Horacio Gómez and David Zárate Appointed as New Lay Members of the General Directive College

In a letter released on June 7, 2024, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the General Directive College announced the appointment of the two lay members of Regnum Christi who will join the General Directive College from 2024 to 2030.

They are Horacio Gómez and David Zárate, chosen from the group of six lay members elected by their peers to the General Plenary Council at the recent Regnum Christi General Convention.

The General Directive College also recognized the work done by Francisco Gámez and Álvaro Abellán-García during the last 11 years, stating that: “Without a doubt, their contributions have been a great support for all of Regnum Christi. They will always have our prayers and our deep gratitude.”

At the end of the letter, all members of Regnum Christi were invited to support Horacio and David, and to ask our Lord Jesus Christ “to help us to have a heart similar to his, full of love and humility so that we can make his Kingdom present in our lives.”

Horacio Gómez

“Regnum Christi has been a gift, a treasure that I have continued to discover since I was in ECYD. It is a charism that has allowed me to know God more every day and that has motivated and allowed me to grow in my faith and my love for the Church and the Virgin Mary” – Horacio Gómez.

Horacio Gomez was born and raised in Guadalajara Mexico, where he attended a RC School and joined ECYD. He incorporated into Regnum Christi in 1996 and gave one year of service as an RC Mission Corps missionary in Madrid, Spain. In 2003 he moved to San Diego, California,  to study for a master’s degree, and in 2007 to Dallas, working professionally for Flextronics and Amazon. Due to work assignments, he lived for periods over six months in Hungary, China, Malaysia, and Brazil, experiencing the RC charism in different cultures. He is married to Luisa and is blessed with four young children, one of them already attending the Highlands School.  As an RC member, he cofounded the first “ECYD Clubs” in Guadalajara, Mexico (Club Forja and Club Sherpa) and has been a team leader, section director, and RC director in Dallas, Texas.  He is currently part of the Plenary Council of the North America Territory, supporting initiatives like the Leadership Evangelization Plan as well as some localities in the discernment of their plans. Over the last 10 years, he has been in charge of different apostolates (Marian Minute, Marian Steps) through the Marian Center of Dallas.
