The Use of Artificial Intelligence on RegnumChristi.com and the Digital and Print Marketing Platforms of Regnum Christi in North America
April 2, 2026
Regnum Christi is made up of people of four vocations who share one charism and mission, to make Christ’s Kingdom present in today’s world. Our statutes say:
To fulfill our mission, we seek to make present the mystery of Christ who goes out to people, reveals the love of his heart to them, gathers them together and forms them as apostles and Christian leaders, sends them out and accompanies them as they collaborate in the evangelization of people and of society. (#8, SRCF)
One of the defining characteristics of how we fulfill our mission is by working person-to-person—through personal contact (SRCF 34). In this age of new AI communication tools, we have found it necessary to develop a clear and transparent policy on how we work, how we use AI, and how we will maintain our charismatic apostolic principles in light of this technology.
Pope Leo XIV recently addressed people in roles of communication about this, on the World Day of Social Communications:
Faces and voices are sacred. God, who created us in his image and likeness, gave them to us when he called us to life through the Word he addressed to us… Preserving human faces and voices, therefore, means preserving this mark, this indelible reflection of God’s love.
In recent years, artificial intelligence systems have increasingly taken control of the production of texts, music and videos. This puts much of the human creative industry at risk of being dismantled and replaced with the label “Powered by AI,” turning people into passive consumers of unthought thoughts and anonymous products without ownership or love. Meanwhile, the masterpieces of human genius in the fields of music, art, and literature are being reduced to mere training grounds for machines.
AI is a tool. It can be helpful, but it is not a person and will never be able to replace a human being, their thoughts, or their connection with another person, including through communications, and especially in communications that are centered on bringing people closer to God. It will never connect with someone person to person, heart to heart.
Public trust is earned by accuracy and transparency, not by chasing after any kind of possible engagement. Content generated or manipulated by AI are to be clearly marked and distinguished from content created by humans.
Because of this, our commitment is that:
- Regnum Christi North America will not publish meditations, articles, books, social media captions, or other texts written by AI instead of a real person on our website, app, email newsletters, social media, or print offerings.
- We will refrain from publishing AI-generated images that are suspected or proven to be manipulations or false depictions of reality. However, AI-generated graphics, videos, audios, or illustrations may be published as long as they are not falsely representing reality, have the consent of people depicted, are clearly labeled as AI, and meet all of our brand standards. All AI generated material that meets this criteria will be screened by people on the Territorial Marketing & Communications Team before publication.
- We will not publish any images or videos that are AI-generated without clearly marking them as such. We will continue to strive to use AI in healthy and positive ways, responsibly, for good. In our work in communication, that positive use may include: research, data analysis, transcription, translation, summarization, automated text-to-audio technology, editing, and tools for organizational efficiency. As new uses for AI emerge, we will continue to evaluate their use in the light of our faith, our charismatic mission, and our professional standards.
- We will always protect the faces and voices of people and we will always have person-to-person communication as our highest criteria.
“Today we are in a culture where the technological dimension is present in almost everything, especially as the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence will mark a new era in the lives of individuals and societies as a whole. This is a challenge that we must face, reflecting on the authenticity of our witness, on our ability to listen and speak, and on our capacity to understand and to be understood. We have a duty to work together to develop a way of thinking, to develop a language of our time that gives voice to love. It is not simply a matter of generating content, but of creating an encounter of hearts.
We need faces and voices to speak for people again. We need to cherish the gift of communication as the deepest truth of humanity, to which all technological innovation should also be oriented.”
-Pope Leo XIV
