The General Directive College of Regnum Christi is comprised of the general directors of the consecrated branches of Regnum Christi, which just elected their new general governments, together with two lay members, Francisco Gámez and Álvaro Abellán, who have a consultative voice and vote. Father John Connor, LC, Nancy Nohrden and Felix Gómez Rueda are the three new general directors of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ, and of the Societies of Apostolic Life of the Consecrated Women and Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi, respectively.
Regnum Christi by the numbers
Worldwide at the end of 2018, Regnum Christi counted 22,652 lay members, 523 consecrated women, 59 consecrated men and 1,501 Legionaries of Christ.
Regnum Christi’s schools have 185,000 students worldwide. There are 14 universities in Mexico, Italy, Spain, Chile and the United States; and 154 grade schools (including 31 Mano Amiga schools for children in poverty stricken zones of Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Philippines, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil). Also, there is the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, the John Paul II Institute for the Family, and the Pontifical International College Maria Mater Ecclesiae in Rome; and the Maria Mater Ecclesiae Seminary in Brazil.
Responsibilities of the General Directive College
According to the Statutes of the Regnum Christi Federation (n. 79), the college is responsible for implementing the directives and indications given by the General Convention; ensuring that everyone, especially the territorial directive colleges, fulfill their responsibilities according to proper law; furthering the consolidation, projection, and development of the apostolic activity of Regnum Christi, fostering international formation initiatives, especially for formators of lay members, and promoting pastoral work for vocations; supervising the administration of the Federation and promoting a healthy economy based on solidarity; promoting appropriate institutional communication.
