On February 27, the General Directive College of Regnum Christi sent a letter to all members of Regnum Christi asking them to pray for the health of Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized in the Gemelli hospital for 14 days. In the letter expresses closeness to the Holy Father, and highlights his testimony of dedication, hope, and love for God and others. It also notes that Zenit News is publishing a daily report to the whole world on the state of the Holy Father’s health.
“As a spiritual family, we join the whole Church in accompanying Pope Francis with our prayers at this time when he is experiencing fragile health,” the text states. It also highlights the response of people worldwide and, in a special way, those who are present in Rome praying at St. Peter’s Square in a gesture of faith and unity. Regnum Christi members globally are also participating in various prayer initiatives to express their love for the Pope.
In the letter, the College invites members to three concrete actions: “Pray for the health of the Holy Father with the trust that Jesus Christ teaches us to have,” recalling that prayer is the bridge that unites us to God and to others; “offer our difficulties and sufferings for the Holy Father”, because no suffering is in vain when united to the Cross of Christ and “meditate on the virtue of hope.”
Finally, the letter concludes with an invitation to entrust Pope Francis to the Virgin Mary, “Mother of Hope, so that she may sustain him with her tenderness and strength.” In Regnum Christi we reaffirm our love for the Church and our commitment to spiritually accompany the Holy Father in this moment of trial.

To all members of Regnum Christi
Dear Regnum Christi Members,
As a spiritual family, we join the whole Church in accompanying Pope Francis with our prayers at this time when he is experiencing fragile health.
As pastor of the Universal Church, the Holy Father has given us a constant witness of dedication, hope, and radical love for God and his people. Today, as he faces this trial, we see how the faithful around the world have turned out in prayer for his recovery. In St. Peter’s Square, many gather in silence and faith, showing the affection and closeness of the Church for its pastor.
Regnum Christi members globally are also participating in various prayer initiatives to express their love for the Pope. In addition, Zenit News is publishing daily reports on the state of the Holy Father’s health, helping the faithful globally unite in prayer and hope.
We, who “love the Church, the seed and beginning of the Kingdom on earth” (SRCF 16), want to express our love for Pope Francis by inviting all members of Regnum Christi to three concrete actions at this time:
- Pray for the health of the Holy Father with the trust that Jesus Christ teaches us to have. Prayer is the bridge that unites us to God and others. Let us pray as a community of apostles, as a family, in our sections and apostolic teams, joining the whole Church in this supplication for the Pope.
- Offer our difficulties and sufferings for the Holy Father and for those who are experiencing illness. The communion of saints reminds us that no suffering is in vain when united to the cross of Christ. Let us offer our small or large crosses as an act of love and spiritual solidarity.
- Meditate on the virtue of hope. Pope Francis has taught us with his life and ministry to trust in God even amid May this moment be an opportunity to contemplate Christian hope, that certainty that God is faithful and walks with us in every circumstance.
Let us continue to trust in God’s providence and entrust Pope Francis to the Virgin Mary, Mother of Hope, to sustain him with her tenderness and strength.
With gratitude and hope,
The General Directive College of Regnum Christi
