“The Vocation Is a Path That Requires Courage and Generosity”
Huixquilucan, Mexico State, August 17, 2024. Pedro Oseguera and Jorge Lam professed their first vows as Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi in the chapel of Anáhuac University, North Mexico City Campus. In the presence of Félix Gómez Rueda, General Director of the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi, both young men took a significant step in their spiritual journey, committing themselves to live in poverty, chastity, and obedience during the next three years.
Fr Alberto Simán, president of the Territorial Directive College of Regnum Christi for the Territory of Mexico and Central America, presided over the Eucharistic celebration with the profession of first vows; in his homily, he stressed the importance of listening to God’s voice and continuously striving for perfection in the consecrated life. Referring to the biblical narrative of Samuel, he underlined how the vocation is a path that requires courage and generosity, reminding those present that “making known the name of God and living charity are the pillars of the consecrated life.” In conclusion, he reflected on Samuel’s vocation and the importance of perfection in the consecrated life, motivating the new consecrated men to continue on their path with courage and love, trusting that “every day on this journey is a new beginning.”
In an interview after the Mass ended, Pedro Oseguera shared his emotion of having made his temporal vows, emphasizing that he felt “very happy, somewhat nervous, but above all with the happiness of feeling very loved by God.” As to his goals for the next three years, Pedro stated:
“I want to know Jesus in order to be able to invite him and to transmit to others all the love I feel, in my work and with the people around me.”
For his part, Jorge Lam expressed the profound joy and gratitude he felt when professing his vows, describing the moment as “a huge gift from God.”
For Lam, these three years represent an opportunity to “continue growing in my relationship with God, loving more every day and letting myself be transformed by him.”
The ceremony ended in an atmosphere of spiritual recollection and profound joy, in which family members, friends, and Regnum Christi members accompanied Pedro and Jorge in this important step of their lives, showing that they are a true community of apostles.
