New Essay Explores Vocational Culture, Vocational Work, and Vocation Promotion in Regnum Christi

Click to download English and Spanish Versions

Every vocation – lay, married, consecrated, or priestly – springs from that personal love that God has for us and that he reveals to us in Jesus Christ; from the encounter with the Heart of Christ that calls, consoles, and sends us. “The personal experience of Christ’s love produces an interior urging in our hearts that impels us to passionate self-giving in order to make his Kingdom present.” (SRCF 10).

The essay reflects on how our  vocation is “the personal way in which each one is loved by God, and the personal way in which each one is called to participate in the mission of Christ” (Essay, p 18-19).

"Although the Scriptures preserve Jesus’ words, ever alive and timely, there are moments when he speaks to us inwardly, calls us and leads us to a better place. That better place is his heart. There he invites us to find fresh strength and peace"

As a spiritual family, we need to continue to deepen our knowledge of Christ, his heart, our identification with him, and how we welcome that call in our lives and in our communities.

The new essay Here I Am, Because You Called Me! Vocational Culture, Vocational Work, and Vocation Promotion in Regnum Christi is the result of a process that began in 2021, seeking to reflect in greater depth on how we live, understand and promote life as a vocation in the different environments of Regnum Christi.

It has been enriched by many voices and experiences, and finds new strength after the 2024 General Convention, where it was established as one of the priorities towards 2030:

“To promote a vocational culture. We want to carry out all our apostolic activity from the personal call that God makes to men, imbuing it with an authentic vocational pedagogy, which fosters the understanding of life as a vocation and makes it easier for each person to discover and accept his or her own. We seek that, in the different areas of Regnum Christi, processes of vocational fullness can be carried out naturally and, in this way, vocations to the married life, consecrated and priestly can mature” (Communique from the 2024 General Convention 25).

The Heart of Jesus continues to say today: “Come to me”. In accepting his invitation, may we renew our vocation and help others to do the same: “Here I am, send me” (Is 6:8).

This new essay is the ninth in a series that explores the charism of Regnum Christi and how that charism is lived by its members in today’s world.

Live the Mystery of the Kingdom

Make it Present in Your Heart, in Other People's Hearts, and in Society
A second essay that continues on from The Regnum Christi Identity and focuses more specifically on the mission of making the Kingdom present in one’s own life, in the hearts of others, and in society. It includes workshops and questions for reflection that help us understand how to live this mystery concretely.

Contemplative & Evangelizing

Apostles of the Kingdom with the Heart of Christ
This essay addresses a charismatic trait in all Regnum Christi members, being “contemplative and evangelizing” (SRCF 20). This duality is not just one particular characteristic of the way a Regnum Christi member lives and acts among many others. It is a vital attitude that permits us to know, love, and follow Christ the Apostle and allow him to transform us.

The Pledge of Friendship with Christ and each Other

ECYD: The Regnum Christi Charism Lived by Adolescents
In Regnum Christi, we have always considered ECYD to be a part of our spiritual family. This essay, then, is directed to all of us – those who have had contact with ECYD and those who have not or had it a long time ago – to all who want to find light in the mystery of Jesus Christ who comes out to meet us and invites us to live as his friends and apostles. In the following pages, we share the thoughts of the different territories five years after the publication of the ECYD Statutes.

The Encounter with Christ in the Life of Regnum Christi

Identity, Foundation, and Dynamic
An essay that seeks to encourage the renewed practice of the Encounter with Christ by going deeper into its essence and offering principles that allow it to be adapted to each team’s circumstances. It develops the following themes: the place of this activity in the life of Regnum Christi, its historical development and its relationship to the charism, its Biblical roots, the internal dynamic of the Encounter with Christ, and the meaning of its parts.

Married Life in Regnum Christi

Making the Kingdom Present
This essay looks at how the Regnum Christi Charism lis lived in marriage. It has three parts: a reflection on the sacrament of marriage, an exploration of the relationship between the sacrament of marriage and the charism of Regnum Christi and how the two are lived together, and practical guidelines on the relationship between marriage and the way of life proposed by Regnum Christi.

Parables of the Kingdom

as Criteria for Discernment
In Jesus’ teachings, we find discourses, sayings, and parables. They are a compass for us as Christians, and especially as Regnum Christi members. They show the path and the direction for making our decisions. Living the Gospel message of the Kingdom of God lets us make the Kingdom present: by incorporating it into our lives, that Kingdom continues to have a presence in and an effect on the world today. In this essay, we will focus on the parables of the Kingdom as criteria for discerning our Christian and apostolic lifestyle in light of the proclamation of the Kingdom. While it is true that the central proclamation of the Kingdom is contained in Matthew’s “Sermon on the Mount” (Mt 5-7) and Luke’s “Sermon on the Plain” (Lk 6:20-49), the parables of the Kingdom themselves are key to understanding whether we are living our life and mission according to the demands of the Kingdom that Jesus himself proclaimed and lived.

The Formation of the Apostle of the Kingdom

Formative Guidelines for the Lay Members of Regnum Christi
For lay members of Regnum Christi, living the mission means making present the mystery of Christ, the Kingdom incarnate.  Their formation is deeply intertwined with this mission. This new essay from the General Directorate's Area of Life and Mission is an effort to express the richness of the formative experience in Regnum Christi and the ever deeper and renewed understanding of our charism and spirituality as it is applied to the lay vocation in Regnum Christi.
