ECYD Launches IMPACT One Appeal

From Maria Knuth, Director of the ECYD Life Department and a Consecrated Woman of Regnum Christi

ECYD, Regnum Christi’s youth organization, is celebrating 50 years of promoting and safeguarding lived personal friendships among our adolescents with Jesus Christ and with each other in order to build a new world according to the Gospel. The ECYD Life Department exists to serve and support the growth and development of ECYD in all of the local cities where ECYD is present and by offering support to the local ECYD directors, adult mentors, team leaders and ECYD adolescents. We offer resources, training and support, and national events.

One of the resources we offer is Challenge and Conquest. These ECYD Programs form adolescents as Christian leaders to transform culture. We do this through a unique method and curriculum that is virtue based, teen led, gender specific, structured by teams, service driven and that responds to the needs of the adolescent. We strive to aid families, schools and parishes in the evangelization and Christian formation of adolescents, in developing their friendship with Christ, and relationships with those around them.

We cannot do this alone. We need your help. On All Saints Day, I announced our second annual appeal Impact One to raise $12,000. This is the moment we can work together to continue reaching our adolescents through our adult leaders and continue the legacy of ECYD and its programs. Please read through the information below to gain a better understanding of our projected budget numbers and the exciting ways your gift is put into action. It is impossible to quantify the impact on thousands of lives of adolescents who were a part of ECYD or involved in Challenge and Conquest the past fifty years. Now is not the time to become complacent when it comes to passing on our faith to our young people. It has been a hard two years, and our young people have experienced trying times through the pandemic and social unrest. They still need the support, love, and accompaniment crucial to their development through their adolescent years.

We at the ECYD Life Department are all about supporting those who are accompanying adolescents to discover in Christ a friendship worth investing a lifetime and a mission that he invites them to that extends to eternity. Your gift will have tremendous reach! Please help us continue supporting ECYD and its programs for generations to come! Help us to offer services and resources to our adult leaders in ECYD across North America. Please consider a recurring gift (suggested below) and know that we truly believe in equal sacrifice not equal gifts.

We know giving out of gratefulness for what’s bestowed by God is personal. We are grateful for ALL gifts. On behalf of the over 50,000 young people who have benefitted from ECYD and Challenge and Conquest through the years to help them to know Jesus, live the Gospel and share it with others; thank you for partnering with us during these most important times and significant year.

Alex Kucera

Atlanta

Alex Kucera has lived in Atlanta, GA, for the last 46 years. He is one of 9 children, married to his wife Karmen, and has 3 girls, one grandson, and a granddaughter on the way. Alex joined Regnum Christi in 2007. Out of the gate, he joined the Helping Hands Medical Missions apostolate and is still participating today with the Ghana Friendship Mission.

In 2009, Alex was asked to be the Atlanta RC Renewal Coordinator for the Atlanta Locality to help the RC members with the RC renewal process. Alex became a Group Leader in 2012 for four of the Atlanta Men’s Section Teams and continues today. Running in parallel, in 2013, Alex became a Team Leader and shepherded a large team of good men.

Alex was honored to be the Atlanta Mission Coordinator between 2010 to 2022 (12 years), coordinating 5-8 Holy Week Mission teams across Georgia. He also created and coordinated missions at a parish in Athens, GA, for 9 years. Alex continues to coordinate Holy Week Missions, Advent Missions, and Monthly missions at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming, GA.

From 2016 to 2022, Alex also served as the Men’s Section Assistant in Atlanta. He loved working with the Men’s Section Director, the Legionaries, Consecrated, and Women’s Section leadership teams.

Alex is exceptionally grateful to the Legionaries, Consecrated, and many RC members who he’s journeyed shoulder to shoulder, growing his relationship with Christ and others along the way. He knows that there is only one way, that’s Christ’s Way, with others!
