Dedicate various times of the day to prayer — and don’t be afraid to let family members know they should try to honor those moments when you need to slip away. If you are a dad, let you children see you praying. Better yet, lead them in prayer each day, at meals and at bedtime. A family recital of the rosary after dinner can be a powerful way to strengthen everyone’s faith. And look to pray with your spouse. If you can go to church for confession as a family, at least a few times a year, that’s good, too. Also, study the faith an ongoing basis and weave religious topics into conversation, connecting them to news events or things that happen at school or in the neighborhood. Make a list of apologetics books you want to read (see these suggestions) and keep them visible around the house. Make Sunday Mass a top priority and look for opportunities to attend daily Mass. Another key is to get involved in volunteer work of some kind, either at the parish or a soup kitchen or a similar facility. Forming bonds with other Catholic men can be a great aid.
