Regnum Christi invites our entire spiritual family and all our friends to join us in praying especially for our brothers and sisters living the consecrated vocations of Legionary priests, Consecrated Women, and Lay Consecrated Men in our territory.
Each week throughout the year, we will pray together for a different group of Legionaries and Consecrated, spanning all the communities across the territory, as our “Priests and Consecrated of the Week.”
Our Consecrated members are men and women who have said yes to Christ’s call to follow him, leaving everything behind to dedicate their entire lives to him and to join him in the mission of building his Kingdom. We come together to support them with our prayer, asking our Lord to strengthen them, hold them close to his Sacred Heart, and give them his deep joy as they live their mission each day.
This Week We Pray for
Fr. Thanh Nguyen, LC is originally from Vietnam. His family escaped the country’s tyrannical regime on a fishing boat when he was only two weeks old and, after many trials, arrived in the United States in 1979. Fr. Thanh was ordained in 2009, and has worked and studied in Texas, Missouri, New Hampshire, Italy, Venezuela, and Michigan. He has also been on more than 24 missions including medical missions with Helping Hands Medical Missions in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica, as well as several construction and evangelization missions to Costa Rica, Mexico, and Venezuela. Fr. Thanh is currently a member of the LC community in Houston, where he serves the Hispanic community, support in Regnum Christi and St. Patrick’s Parish.
Olivia Steeves is from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and has been a member of Regnum Christi since she was a girl in ECYD. She began discerning with the Consecrated Women after graduating from college in MN with degrees in English and Catholic Studies. Olivia was consecrated in 2021 in Monterrey, Mexico, and moved to the Formation Center of the Consecrated Women in Madrid, Spain, to study a degree in Theology at the Ecclesial University of San Dámaso. As part of her apostolic experience in temporary vows, she currently works in ECYD and the middle school campus ministry team at Highlands School Encinar in Madrid. She is beginning her last year of temporary of vows, completing the six-year formation itinerary of the initial stages, and God-willing will take final vows next summer!
Fr. Jacob DuMont, LC, is from Grand Rapids, Michigan and was ordained in 2008. In his first five years as a priest, Fr. Jacob served in Chicago with youth and young adult ministries, which included helping to direct high school retreats, implementing virtue-based programs in elementary schools and high schools, and assisting as chaplain for Unidos en Cristo, a Catholic program for Spanish-speaking young adults in the Archdiocese of Chicago. In 2014, Fr. Jacob moved to New Orleans to help begin a new community for the Legionaries of Christ and to serve as their local superior. He also served as a spiritual director at Notre Dame Seminary and as chaplain for the chapter of Young Catholic Professionals in New Orleans. In 2021, Fr. Jacob was assigned to serve as the territorial secretary for the Legionaries of Christ in the North American Territory. Since July of 2022, he has been serving the Cincinnati locality as the superior for the LC community there, and as deputy superintendent of Catholic Identity and Faith Formation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
Elena Orozco, originally from Mexico City, has been a consecrated member of Regnum Christi since 1982. She was recently assigned to serve in women’s ministry in Dallas, Texas.With more than 40 years of apostolic experience, Elena has served in education, youth ministry, the formation of consecrated women, and pastoral ministry. Her mission has taken her to the United States, Mexico, Chile, and the Philippines, where she has accompanied individuals and communities with creativity, dedication, and a deep commitment to evangelization.
Fr. Donald Kaufman, LC was ordained a priest on December 22, 2007 and was asked to serve in the prelature of Cancun-Chetumal. Upon arriving, he spent time in various parishes, learning from the priests who had labored there before him. For the next nine years, Fr. Donald poured himself into the work of that growing missionary territory — teaching, preaching, evangelizing, building chapels, forming lay leaders, and organizing the parish’s pastoral life. He worked closely with the parish’s Regnum Christi sections, helping the movement’s charism take root in the parish’s life. In 2017, Fr. Donald became the pastor of the parish of St. Peter and St. Denis in Yonkers, New York, he remains there today.
Prayer for Priests and Consecrated Members in Regnum Christi
God our Father,
We thank you for our spiritual family of Regnum Christi, and for those within it that you have called to total consecration as Legionaries of Christ, Consecrated Women, and Lay Consecrated Men.
We ask you to renew their encounter with your Son Jesus Christ,
who goes out to meet them and reveals the love of his heart to them.
Deepen their personal love for Christ
and their trust in his love for them.
Gather them close to him,
form them,
and send them out accompanied by your Son,
in the mission of forming apostles and Christian leaders who make your Kingdom present in hearts, in families, and in society.
Send your Holy Spirit to sanctify and strengthen them,
And to help them respond generously and courageously to their mission each day.
