The Kingdom Without End: A Retreat Guide on Christ the King

Every Sunday when we pray the Creed at Mass we profess our faith in Jesus Christ, affirming that “he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his Kingdom will have no end.” This seems like an important point for Christ’s followers to keep in mind. And yet, how often do we actually think about it? How deeply have we considered it? What really comes into our minds when we read the Bible passages that speak to us about Christ’s Kingship and his Kingdom? Those are some of the questions we will explore in this retreat guide: The Kingdom without End: A Retreat Guide on Christ the King.

  • The First Meditation will unfold the historical origins of the liturgical celebration of Christ the King—and why they matter.
  • The Second Meditation will focus on the throne that Christ chose for himself, and what it can teach us about our King and his Kingdom.
  • And the Conference will show how the Beatitudes reveal what it means for us to be active, faithful citizens of Christ’s Kingdom.

The Personal Questionnaire/Group discussion questions and the full text are available in the Companion Guide Book.  The Small Group Companion Guide has the questions and quotations. Either download the PDF Companion Guide Book or purchase it. The Companion Guide Book is available for purchase as a paperback at Amazon. Anchored in Light: A Retreat Guide on the Transfiguration of the Lord

Contemplating the Mystery of the Transfiguration, and discovering what it has to say to each one of us, will be the task of this Retreat Guide, Anchored in Light.

  • The First Meditation unpacks the spiritual meaning behind each detail of this mysterious encounter.
  • The Second Meditation explores how those three Apostles who witnessed the Transfiguration applied that meaning to their lives.
  • And the Conference delves into how we can apply its meaning to our own lives through exercising the virtue of hope. To that end, we will also gather some valuable wisdom from the Old Testament book of Joshua.

The Personal Questionnaire/Group discussion questions are available in the Companion Guide Book or Small Group Companion Guide. Either download the PDF Companion Guide Book or purchase it. The Companion Guide Book is available for purchase as a paperback or on Kindle at Amazon. Pause the video at any moment to go to the Companion Guide Book or continue to the next meditation.

Fire of Mercy: A Retreat Guide on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day

When was the last time you thought about what happens after we die? Certainly, you already know what happens—we all learned it in Catechism class: first comes death, unavoidable for all of us, then comes judgment, and depending on how that goes, either hell, purgatory, or heaven. We know that. God has revealed it to us, and the Church teaches it clearly and authoritatively. But when was the last time you really thought about it?  After all, if God has revealed it, he must have a good reason. Thinking about these eternal truths must be able to have a positive influence on how we live our daily lives here on earth. Otherwise, God wouldn’t have made such a big deal about them. But he did. Why?

  • That’s what Fire of Mercy: A Retreat Guide for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, will explore.
  • The first meditation will spend time reflecting on death and judgment, and what God wants us to know about those things.
  • The second meditation will give us a chance to reflect prayerfully on heaven and hell.
  • And in the conference, we will tackle the often misunderstood and misrepresented topics of purgatory and indulgences.

God Is Faithful: A Retreat Guide on Mary’s Assumption Into Heaven

The Blessed Virgin Mary led a life full of suffering. But she never let that suffering obscure her faith in God. She continued to believe in God and God’s promises, even when King Herod tried to kill the baby Jesus, when the Holy Family had to escape to Egypt, and when Jesus was rejected, condemned and crucified in front of her very eyes. She always stayed faithful to God, because she knew that God himself is faithful, trustworthy, even though she didn’t always understand everything he was doing. And at the end of her life, when her mission on earth was finished, her trust in God was abundantly vindicated. God chose to reward her with a very special grace: he assumed her, body and soul, directly into heaven. God was able to show his faithfulness to her in an extraordinary way, giving her through the Assumption the joy of a special participation in Christ’s resurrection, because she had been faithful to him. This mysterious and extraordinary expression of mutual faithfulness can instruct and inspire us, if we give it the chance. And that’s exactly what this Retreat Guide, God Is Faithful: A Retreat Guide on Mary’s Assumption into Heaven, will try to do.

  • The first meditation will reflect on how Mary’s faithfulness can help guide our own Christian lives.
  • The second meditation will explore how Mary’s special experience of God’s faithfulness in her Assumption foreshadows the future experience of the whole Church.
  • And in the conference, we will reflect on how great Christian art—so much of which has been inspired by the Blessed Virgin Mary—can feed our souls.
To begin, let’s quiet our souls and turn our attention to the Lord who filled Mary with grace, and let’s ask him to do the same for us, so that we too can experience, more fully than ever that, “God is faithful” (1 Corinthians 1:9).

Fire and Thorns: A Retreat Guide on the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Pope Benedict XVI called devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus “irreplaceably important.” Pope Pius XI called it “the very epitome of our religion.” Why is this devotion so central? And if it is, how are we supposed to tap into it and live it to the full? That’s what this month’s Retreat Guide, Fire and Thorns: A Retreat Guide on the Sacred Heart of Jesus will explore. In the First Meditation, we will ponder the amazing invitation at the core of this devotion. In the Second Meditation, we will dig into the deeper meanings behind the symbols that Jesus himself chose to associate with this devotion. And in the conference, we will review the tried and true practices that can connect us more intimately to Our Lord’s Most Sacred Heart.

Welcoming the Word: A Retreat Guide on the Annunciation

God never stops thinking of us – he never stops reaching out to us, wanting to give us grace, light, and wisdom. The problem is that we aren’t always good listeners! This month’s Retreat Guide, Welcoming the Word: A Retreat Guide on the Annunciation, will delve into both of those truths. It ponders the amazing fact that God never stops thinking of us. It uncovers three attitudes that made the Blessed Virgin Mary one of the Bible’s greatest listeners – three attitudes that we can all develop. And it highlights five common messengers that God uses to send us his words.
