Holy Week Missions 2025: Hope Awakens

APRIL 13–20, 2025

The 2025 Holy Week Missions theme – Hope Awakens – puts hope front and center in this jubilee year. Christ is the reason for our hope. He gives us hope. And he wants to make us witnesses to hope for every person we encounter.

What is a Holy Week Mission?

Holy Week Missions are a signature mission experience for Mission Youth & Family, an apostolate of Regnum Christi. Palm Sunday ushers in the holiest week of the liturgical year, during which Catholics remember and celebrate the fact that God became man and died on the cross to save humanity. From April 13–20 this year, Mission Youth & Family missionaries in numerous sites across North America will go out into the streets, sharing the message of God’s love. All around the world, Regnum Christi members and collaborators devote this week to serve their parishes, the poor, and those most in need, reminding them of God’s love and mercy—and awakening hope.

“This is the holiest week of the year, and we’ve got to make it holy,” says Fr. Michael Moriarty, LC, who serves in Philadelphia. “We’ve got to sanctify the week by praying together, by going deep in Scripture together, and then, heading out to the streets to spread the Gospel and to remind people that it’s not just another Friday, it’s Good Friday. It’s the best Friday, because it’s when our salvation was won for us, when Christ gave his life for us.”

2024 Holy Week Missions

Last year, during the 2024 Holy Week Missions, more than 3,500 missionaries at 23 locations across North America served over thousands of people, multiple parishes, and dozens of communities by living the spiritual and corporal works of mercy through a variety of events and activities:

  • Catechesis for children
  • Spending time with the elderly and homebound
  • Serving the homeless on the streets and in shelters
  • Praying for the deceased in cemeteries
  • Approaching people on the streets to ask for prayer requests
  • Planning Easter celebrations in disadvantaged local communities
  • Serving and collaborating with local parishes, pastors, and bishops as they prepared for the Holy Triduum
  • Visiting addiction treatment centers and nursing homes
  • Leading Stations of the Cross, Holy Hours, and even a 7-Church pilgrimage by bus
  • Providing, inviting to, and participating in the Sacrament of Confession and the celebration of the Eucharist

2025 Holy Week Missions

This year, Holy Week Missions will be held at 20 sites across the United States and Canada: find one near you!

Mission Youth & Family missionaries at these locations will be spending Holy Week close to the heart of Jesus, experiencing the power of living out the spiritual and corporal works of mercy with missionary hearts, providing food and clothes to the homeless, ministering to at-risk communities, participating in downtown Crosswalks, visiting the elderly, and inviting parishioners to attend the Triduum Masses and receive the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation through door-to-door evangelization.

This Holy Week let Christ send us forth to bring hope to each other, and to each and every person we meet. Visit MY Holy Week Missions to find a Holy Week Mission near you, and watch the official music video of “Hope Awakens,” the theme song for the 2025 Holy Week Missions performed by RC Music Collective, here.

Mission Youth & Family exists to engage youth people, adults, and families in spreading Christ’s love through local missions and abroad, serving communities in their specific needs. To find out more about Mission Youth, visit their website at Mission Youth and Family – Regnum Christi.
