Discover faith, make new friends, and experience unforgettable adventures at ECYD camp this summer!

ECYD Camps are unique experiences for boys and girls in 5th to 12th grade to grow in their Catholic faith and make lasting friendships through fun and adventure. Running from May to July, ECYD offers over 30 camps each summer across the United States and Canada. Over the past two decades, ECYD Camps have hosted thousands of participants.

A Day in the Life of a Camper

At ECYD camps, campers ages 10-17 will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and formative activities. They will enjoy prayer and spiritual growth through participation in Mass, spiritual talks and confession. Sports, games, workshops, team dynamics, exciting night activities, swimming, and fun in the sun are typical ECYD camp activities. Each camp staff is made up of a wonderful team of teen camp counselors and skilled adult volunteers, and parents are always encouraged to volunteer and participate at camp!

Time for life-changing encounters

Donovan Novak is a member of the ECYD Life Department team, which serves and supports the growth and development of ECYD in the territory by offering help and resources to the local ECYD Directors, adult formators, team leaders and members. To Donovan, what makes ECYD camps so special is the time they allow for relationship to develop.

“ECYD is all about Encounters with our Lord that change a young person’s life, and most of the time, these life-changing encounters need more time to develop than what a standard weekly meeting or even weekend retreat can offer. ECYD Camps provide that kind of time where young people can have life-changing encounters with our Lord alongside their friends.”

And combining that time with the opportunity to spend several consecutive days away from their everyday routines, attending Mass and adoration daily, and receiving ongoing support from ECYD mentors can be truly transformative for the campers. Whether it’s a new “mountain view” as the Apostles received at the transfiguration, or a desert experience similar to Jesus’ preparation for his ministry, ECYD Camps give young people a chance to encounter Christ in a new and deeper way.

“I have always experienced camp as a moment for kids to let their guard down, be themselves, and rest in the Lord. And the Holy Spirit always showed up to meet them where they were at!”

ECYD is the Regnum Christi Charism lived by adolescents.

ECYD offers adolescents encounters with themselves, Jesus Christ, and others that can transform their lives. From these encounters, the adolescents then form convictions that become pillars in their lives. These convictions impel them to make decisions in their lives.

ECYD members make a pledge of friendship with Christ and with each other, to transform the world for Christ.

The Regnum Christi Identity

Alex Kucera

Atlanta

Alex Kucera has lived in Atlanta, GA, for the last 46 years. He is one of 9 children, married to his wife Karmen, and has 3 girls, one grandson, and a granddaughter on the way. Alex joined Regnum Christi in 2007. Out of the gate, he joined the Helping Hands Medical Missions apostolate and is still participating today with the Ghana Friendship Mission.

In 2009, Alex was asked to be the Atlanta RC Renewal Coordinator for the Atlanta Locality to help the RC members with the RC renewal process. Alex became a Group Leader in 2012 for four of the Atlanta Men’s Section Teams and continues today. Running in parallel, in 2013, Alex became a Team Leader and shepherded a large team of good men.

Alex was honored to be the Atlanta Mission Coordinator between 2010 to 2022 (12 years), coordinating 5-8 Holy Week Mission teams across Georgia. He also created and coordinated missions at a parish in Athens, GA, for 9 years. Alex continues to coordinate Holy Week Missions, Advent Missions, and Monthly missions at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming, GA.

From 2016 to 2022, Alex also served as the Men’s Section Assistant in Atlanta. He loved working with the Men’s Section Director, the Legionaries, Consecrated, and Women’s Section leadership teams.

Alex is exceptionally grateful to the Legionaries, Consecrated, and many RC members who he’s journeyed shoulder to shoulder, growing his relationship with Christ and others along the way. He knows that there is only one way, that’s Christ’s Way, with others!
