ECYD is Regnum Christi’s Youth Organization! Members of ECYD make a pledge of friendship with Christ and with each other, to transform the world for Christ. ECYD presents adolescents with an attractive and demanding Christian ideal and lifestyle.

The Mission of ECYD

To collaborate with Christ so that he might reign in the hearts of adolescents and in the world.  #3 ECYD Statutes

ECYD members live their mission by taking advantage of every occasion to collaborate with Christ in making his Kingdom present and by giving witness to an authentic Christian life of self-giving.

The ECYD member walks with their friend Jesus, accompanied by others, sharing a mission and with eyes fixed on the final destination, heaven.

The Pledge of Friendship

The pledge is the heart of ECYD!

Through the pledge of friendship with Christ in ECYD, an adolescent becomes a member of ECYD.

This pledge is above all the adolescent’s free and personal response to Christ’s invitation to be his friend and collaborate with him in his mission. The love that Christ has for each adolescent is a free offering from God who wants to form a covenant with them. This is the essence of the Gospel message that ECYD wants to bring to each adolescent: Jesus wants to make a pledge of friendship with you; God wants to be your friend.

The 5 Elements of ECYD Life

Like Regnum Christi, Life in ECYD revolves around 5 elements which are meant to be experiences of encounter through which an adolescent can forge their conviction and decisions.

Team Life

The team is a place of true friendship, where life in ECYD grows and develops. It is a way of learning how to live in a Christian community: ECYD teammates live communion in Christ, and guided by him, journey together towards heaven.

Sacramental & Prayer Life

Through prayer, an adolescent discovers God’s presence in their heart, hears him and dialogues with him, seeks to know his will and receives strength to follow it.

Apostolate

Through apostolate, adolescents are invited to give of themselves generously, to go out and meet the most needy and distanced from God. Being an apostle is more than an attitude; it is the way of living as a Christian in the world.

Formation

In ECYD, formation is understood as a path of encounters which bring adolescents to know, accept and master themselves; to discover in Christ the full meaning of their lives, and to develop their leadership as apostles.

Accompaniment

Accompaniment is personal attention offered on both an individual and group level in the varied circumstances of the adolescents’ lives. ECYD mentors guide and walk alongside the adolescents in their search for happiness and the fullness of their calling.

Atlanta

Alex Kucera has lived in Atlanta, GA, for the last 46 years. He is one of 9 children, married to his wife Karmen, and has 3 girls, one grandson, and a granddaughter on the way. Alex joined Regnum Christi in 2007. Out of the gate, he joined the Helping Hands Medical Missions apostolate and is still participating today with the Ghana Friendship Mission.

In 2009, Alex was asked to be the Atlanta RC Renewal Coordinator for the Atlanta Locality to help the RC members with the RC renewal process. Alex became a Group Leader in 2012 for four of the Atlanta Men’s Section Teams and continues today. Running in parallel, in 2013, Alex became a Team Leader and shepherded a large team of good men.

Alex was honored to be the Atlanta Mission Coordinator between 2010 to 2022 (12 years), coordinating 5-8 Holy Week Mission teams across Georgia. He also created and coordinated missions at a parish in Athens, GA, for 9 years. Alex continues to coordinate Holy Week Missions, Advent Missions, and Monthly missions at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming, GA.

From 2016 to 2022, Alex also served as the Men’s Section Assistant in Atlanta. He loved working with the Men’s Section Director, the Legionaries, Consecrated, and Women’s Section leadership teams.

Alex is exceptionally grateful to the Legionaries, Consecrated, and many RC members who he’s journeyed shoulder to shoulder, growing his relationship with Christ and others along the way. He knows that there is only one way, that’s Christ’s Way, with others!
