What is the General Convention?

A General Convention, as an event of the Spirit, always involves three actions: illumination, discernment and action. Seeing, judging and acting. It is about listening to one another and to the Holy Spirit. It is about being synod, about walking all together; each one according to his vocation.

It is a Eucharistic, communitarian event, of union of each and everyone in the Body of Christ. It is about praying together, united in one faith and one mission. Finally, it is about receiving a Word from God about the needs of the Church and the world, with the intention of doing the will of the Father at this moment in history and from our charism.

What are the expected outcomes of a General Convention?

As an event of the Spirit, synodal and Eucharistic, prayerful, the assembly should illuminate our Christian lives as apostles, as well as conclude with concrete decisions on the life and mission of Regnum Christi. It is a strong moment in the life of the Kingdom; it is about letting the Spirit blow on our embers and fan the fire of love, light and joy of the Gospel in us.

The members of Regnum Christi, impelled by the personal experience of Christ’s love, feel the inner urgency to make his Kingdom present, giving witness to what we have lived and experienced, and thus seeking to respond to the needs of the world and the Church.

What are the phases of this process?

The preparation for the General Convention is being carried out in three phases that shift the emphasis from the local to the territorial and, finally, to the general level. The local phase, the pillar of the life and mission of Regnum Christi, will begin in September 2022 and last until July 2023. The territorial phase, as a meeting between localities and a forum to address issues common to all of them, will take place in the second half of 2023 and will conclude with the celebration of the Territorial Assemblies. The general phase, as a meeting to recognize and promote the presence of Christ throughout the world, will culminate in the General Assembly, which will begin on April 29, 2024 and is expected to last six days.

The members of Regnum Christi, impelled by the personal experience of Christ’s love, feel the inner urgency to make his Kingdom present, giving witness to what we have lived and experienced, and thus seeking to respond to the needs of the world and of the Church.

Maria Gaviria

Sarasota, FL

Born in Bogota, Colombia, Maria immigrated to the United States when she was six months old. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of South Florida and a Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary and School of Theology.

A 30-year career at Procter and Gamble formed her business acumen in technology, marketing, and human resources. Maria’s leadership roles with billion-dollar brands, global organizations, diverse cultural initiatives and founding Procter and Gamble’s Global Catholic Network shaped her entrepreneurial spirit.

After retiring from Procter and Gamble, Maria founded Aspen & Oliva – a personal branding and professional development agency that helps women discover and blossom into who God created them to be as they navigate the business world. Most recently, Maria launched Catholic Daughter – a ministry helping and accompanying Catholic daughters navigate the journey of caring for elderly parents.

Since incorporating into Regnum Christi in 2007, Maria has led 3 International World Youth Day missions, established Holy Week Mercy missions in Greater Cincinnati, was a keynote speaker and guest lecturer at Anahuac University (Puebla, Mexico), served as a RC council member for the Greater Cincinnati locality, hosted young professionals for monthly encounters, and has volunteered in many other RC programs.

Her most rewarding vocation is motherhood. Natasha and Philip were active participants in many RC programs, including Challenge, Conquest, ECYD Mission Corps, Mission Youth and RC Mission Corps.

Awards such as “Coach of the Year” at Procter and Gamble and “Champion of Mercy” from Catholic Charities reflect the integral purpose of her life: serving others.

Recently, Maria relocated back to Florida, now calling Sarasota home. When discerning how best she could serve Regnum Christi from this corner of the world – many ideas came to mind. Yet, God had a different plan. On May 1st, the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, she received a call asking if she would serve in the North America Territorial Directive College. Living out her favorite bible verse, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19), with a humbled heart, she said: Yes.

Becky Kramr

Houston

My name is Rebecca Kramr. I live in the Bryan-College Station area and have been a member of Regnum Christi since October 2014, when I incorporated with my husband, Michael. For years before learning of RC, I had the desire to grow closer to Christ through prayer but also felt a strong call to be of service in bringing other souls to Him through the Church. My first encounter with RC was through other pilgrims on a trip to Rome in April 2014 for the Canonization of Pope St. John Paul II and Pope St. John XXIII. Afterward, I accepted an invitation from a dear friend and long-time member to discern Regnum Christi and felt this was where Christ was calling me.

In the years since, I’ve pursued my own integral formation through active participation in team life and other local formation, as well as personal retreats both locally and in other areas of the country. In recent years, I felt a call to accompaniment on a deeper level and completed a Certification as a Spiritual Director through Divine Mercy University in December 2022.

Through apostolate, I’ve been blessed to participate in youth and young adult work, helping with administrative leadership, organizational tasks, and hospitality. I’ve been an event coordinator for several of our Women’s Section’s largest events and actively served in various leadership roles on the local AFIRE team before recently becoming Section Director. On the Locality level, I served on the current Locality Evangelization Planning committee.

Additionally, I serve in various capacities in several parishes in our community- on Campus Ministry Building & Planning committee, as a Spiritual Director and Leader for a Bereavement Group, as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and in the Marriage Prep program with my husband at our local Catholic Campus Ministry.

I am blessed to have met and maintained friendships with so many members of the Regnum Christi, both religious and laypeople, around the world. Regnum Christi truly is a family to me!

Katie Lundstrom

Washington DC

My name is Katie Lundstrom and I have been associated with Regnum Christi since January 2009 after my conversion into the RCC in 2006.  I found my evangelical home within  Regnum Christi.  In my profession, I am a strategy consultant and executive coach for both individuals and teams.  I have a passion for helping leaders and their teams become healthier — and helping them build a culture that helps their mission thrive.

Since 2009, I have used my professional gifts for Regnum Christi at local, national and international levels in both North America and the Western And Central European Territories.

My work within the D.C. locality has included:

  • Fulfilling the role of Washington D.C. local board member and subsequent Local Director
  • Leading the Washington, D.C. Locality Strategic Planning Process over multiple years
  • Providing advisory support and leadership strengthening training to Local Directors, Women’s & Men’s Section Directors, ECyD Directors, and communities
  • Leading/participating in various efforts at Our Lady of Bethesda:
    • Executive Director
    • Board member
    • Ad hoc Consultant
    • Office of the President donor breakfasts/events
    • Program Speaker

Other supporting roles within the North American Territory and Western/Central European Territory include:

  • Co-creating a leadership framework for Regnum Christi
  • Co-creating the RCNAT Locality strategic planning process and methodology
  • Serving as executive coach and consultant to various Territorial leaders, governing bodies, and national teams

The discernment process (both individually and corporate) has been a recurring theme throughout many of my encounters of life. Professionally, I work with both private and public companies to discern and create the most advantageous path forward. Spiritually, and beginning back in my evangelical days, I have had many experiences of listening together for the movement of the Holy Spirit and finding mutual understanding of where we are being lead.  With these discernment moments, coupled with the lenses brought forth from my local and territorial encounters, I hope to contribute to the good of the future the Movement during this time of reflection on the identity and mission of Regnum Christi.

I was introduced to Regnum Christi in 2017 when a friend invited me to attend a Morning of Reflection by the local chapter. The holy women of Regnum Christi accepted me and my desire to grow and mature in my Catholic faith. They continued to include me in Encounters and Spiritual Exercises, encouraging me on my faith journey. All the while, I was learning about the charism of RC and my baptismal call to be an apostle.

For me, it took several years and lots of prayer, study, and encouragement before I felt worthy of the call to RC that I knew God had placed on my heart. But during my first TOR, I heard the Lord say, “Jennifer, I delight in you.” It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to experience and share the joy of living in communion with the Most High King. I answered His call and was associated as a lay member of RC on January 25, 2022.

In my parish, my apostolate is coordination and participation in a ministry called “In His Footsteps.” We travel the journey of physical illness and chronic pain, praying and sharing a message of hope in redemptive suffering.

While I have not been a member of RC for very long, I am humbled and privileged to be elected as a delegate of the Philadelphia Locality. I believe that God does not call the qualified, rather, He qualifies the called. My prayer is for the Holy Spirit to shower me with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in response to my little “yes.” And that I may represent the territory well since it is the home where I experienced the loving example of a community constantly striving to bring God’s Kingdom on earth.

Eduardo Ross

San Antonio

I was born in Mexico, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Information Systems from MIT (Monterrey Institute of Technology 😊) and where I taught for three years. In 1987, just three months into my marriage to Abby, we decided to emigrate to the United States. It was in San Antonio where I first encountered the Movement, and I ‘incorporated’ in 1998.

My five sons received their education at Rolling Hills Academy, a nascent school founded by RC, where I initially became involved in various apostolic activities. At Rolling Hills, I served as a ‘computer teacher’ and later on was an active member of the Principal Support Council. During my children’s formative years, our family actively participated in Conquest.  I have been participating in Family Missions since their inception in San Antonio over two decades ago.

Over the years, I’ve taken on leadership roles, including leading a men’s team, organizing numerous retreats, and even coordinating a regional RC congress many years ago. For the past five years, I was the director for the San Antonio Locality.

Tanner Williams

Baton Rouge

Hello I’m Tanner Williams and I’ve been a  Regnum Christi member for about four years now. I was initially introduced to Regnum Christi by a camp hosted by the Legionaries Of Christ called bocamb. Here I not only fell in love with the charism of Regnum Christi, but also with the faith of the Catholic Church. Since going to this initial camp, it has made me want to come back to be a part of it and help with anything I can and finally join Regnum Christi. Through joining it has allowed me to be part of an encounter team and also go to the international formaters course of Regnum Christi. It is an honor to be a representative for the locality of Baton Rouge.

Mary Wolff

New York Tri-State

Nearly 20 years ago friends invited Mary to attend a Spiritual Exercise retreat offered by the Legionaries of Christ.  This led to her attending events at the Lumen Institute and learning about Regnum Christi, into which she Incorporated a few months later.  As one Father explained it: ‘Whenever Our Lord is asking more of you, it’s because He wants to give you more…’  This was SPOT ON!!  She was deeply moved as she realized that RC is not ‘another thing to do’, it is a vocation, which is something uniquely beautiful; it is a tenderly personal, precious, and priceless gift from Our Lord, Himself!  RC has helped her deepen in both her love of God, and in her desire to share this treasure with other souls!

Within Regnum Christi, Mary has been the General Director of Programs at Our Lady of Mt Kisco, Facilitator and Speaker on Spiritual Exercise Retreats, Team Founder and Leader, helped with 3TGM and Marriage Renewal, helped inaugurate Advent & Lenten Mornings, was a Holy Week Youth Missions Chaperone, Section staff, Healing Retreat Speaker, Convention Committee Member and Convention Speaker, has helped with Galas, and wherever needed.

When Regnum Christi was undergoing its multi-year Renewal Process guided by the Holy See, she was the Renewal Process Coordinator for the Tristate area, and twice was a Convention Representative, once elected by Tristate members and then selected by fellow Convention Representatives.

A series of events brought Mary to the Regnum Christi’s Magdala Center in the Holy Land, and she was later invited to move there by its founder, Fr. Juan Solana, LC, which she did in October 2016.  Her greatest joy while at Magdala was to guide English-speaking visitors.  She loved to see their hearts melt as they experienced a true encounter with Jesus.  She also enjoyed working with Jeff Cavins and Marcellino D’Ambrosio and appearing in their series, ‘Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life’.  In 2019 the Lord returned her to New York to help her aging parents; she was honored to accompany her Dad in his final hours and continues to care for her Mom.

She is thankful to God for inviting her to Regnum Christi and allowing her to experience a ‘taste of heaven on earth’ by giving her this incredible family of ‘sisters and brothers in Christ’ … when with them, she has a tangible awareness of what it must have been like to be a part of the Early Church community ~ which others recognized by ‘their love for one another’.  It is her honor to once again represent the Tristate Section at the upcoming Convention and help to continue to grow & bless this beautiful family!

Philadelphia

I am originally from Lawrence, Kansas. I was ordained a priest on December 15, 2012.  My favorite saint is St. Isaac Jogues and I enjoy mountain biking.

My passion in life is to lead others to encounter Christ and experience his love. When young people encounter Christ through prayer, through mission work, through reading scripture together and through one-on-one spiritual direction, their lives are changed forever! I cant’ make anyone experience this encounter, but I can spend every minute of my life helping facilitate this encounter for them. With the prayers and support of many generous souls, I hope to persevere in this calling until death on the cross alongside Christ himself. That’s what I call living the dream!

During this time, I worked closely with the RC Sections to organize formation activities for parents at the school, with the goal of building Christ-centered unity, human and spiritual formation, and our locality’s number of RC members from among CWA families that Christ was calling. These efforts yielded fruitful results. Starting in 2017, I split my time between working as the Advancement Consultant for RC Schools in our area and continuing my half-time role at CWA.

In late 2019, I was appointed Executive Director of RC Education. Additionally, from approximately 2010 to 2017, I served as the Communications lead on the leadership team for the Calgary Locality.
